Information you choose to provide

This site does not require an account. The starting-point questions on the apply page run only in your browser; those answers are not sent to Doug or stored unless you choose to email them to him from your own email app. The separate coaching inquiry form stores the name, email, interest and musical goal you enter, along with the time and wording version of your permission for Doug to reply. The free-map request stores your email and the time and wording version of your request. The map form checks email format but does not verify that you control the address. If you email Doug, complete a Cal.com form, purchase through a linked checkout, or begin coaching, information may also include your time zone, scheduling choices, form answers (the Year Mentorship form also offers an optional age-range question), purchase and refund records, lesson notes, and any materials you choose to share.

Do not place sensitive medical, financial or identity information in an open text field. Doug does not ask for income, a home address, government identification or full card details in the Year Mentorship fit form.

How information is used

Information is used to respond to you, assess coaching fit, schedule and deliver services, send confirmations and requested materials, process and reconcile payments, prevent fraud and disputes, maintain tax and business records, improve accessibility and service quality, and comply with legal obligations.

Doug does not sell personal information or use it for third-party targeted advertising.

The coaching inquiry form saves your details in a private Cloudflare D1 database under Doug's account so he can review and reply. It does not book a session, enroll you, or subscribe you to marketing. Each new inquiry is recorded separately; a network retry of the same submission does not create another record. If you asked not to be contacted, that suppression remains in place. Doug does not run a mailing list or send marketing email.

The free-map form saves one request record per email address in that same private database before issuing access. After the save succeeds, a short-lived download grant lets you download the PDF on the site. The form does not send the PDF or a confirmation by email. A new no-contact suppression deletes earlier map requests and download grants. A later map request is a separate request for this download only; it does not remove the suppression or authorize contact.

Optional analytics

The site asks for your choice before loading Google Analytics. If you accept, Google Analytics may record page paths, the referring site's origin, approximate location, device and browser information, scrolling, outbound-link activity and booking-button clicks. The site removes query strings from the page location sent to Google Analytics. Doug does not send names, email addresses, form answers or payment details to Google Analytics. Declining does not limit the site.

Website hosting and security

This site is hosted on Cloudflare Workers, under Doug's own Cloudflare account, and delivered through Cloudflare's network. When you visit, Cloudflare processes the technical details every website request carries, such as your IP address, browser and device type, the page requested and the time, to deliver pages and protect the site from abuse.

Cloudflare sets the two security cookies listed below only when its bot protection or security checks are turned on for this site, and may then run a bot-detection check in your browser. Cloudflare describes these cookies as strictly necessary in its cookie documentation. Doug does not use them for analytics or advertising.

Cookies and browser storage

• __cf_bm (Cloudflare): bot-protection cookie, set only when Cloudflare's bot protection is turned on for this site. It expires after 30 minutes without activity, is made separately for each site, and does not correspond to any user ID or follow you from site to site.
• cf_clearance (Cloudflare): set only when Cloudflare's bot protection or security checks are turned on for this site. It records that your browser passed Cloudflare's check, so you are not checked again right away. The check can run in the background without anything shown to you. Its lifetime depends on the site's Cloudflare security settings.
• dougvb_analytics_consent (stored in your browser, not a cookie): remembers whether you accepted or declined analytics. It stays until you clear it or use the "Review analytics choice" button above.
• Google Analytics cookies (_ga and _ga_ followed by an ID): set only after you accept analytics.

Videos

Videos on this site are shown first as a still image with a play button. The still image loads from YouTube's image server, which receives your IP address and browser details. The YouTube player, from youtube-nocookie.com, loads only after you press play. From then on, YouTube and Google process information under the Google Privacy Policy. Links that open youtube.com take you to YouTube itself.

Bookings, payments, email and other providers

Cal.com handles scheduling and its form submissions. The Clarity Session currently uses Cal Video, provided by Daily; check your booking confirmation for the meeting link and details. Stripe processes payments, including the payment methods Stripe offers at checkout. Doug receives transaction, status and contact information needed to fulfill and reconcile a purchase, but this website does not receive or store your full card number.

Email to Doug at dugvanbev@gmail.com is handled by Google's Gmail service. The free fretboard map is kept in the Worker source bundle and is returned only after a saved request and a valid short-lived grant. The old direct download path does not provide access.

Other email, video, recording, file-storage, file-delivery and music services may process information only when they are used to provide a service you requested, such as delivering a lesson recording, written recap, fretboard diagram or practice file.

Links to other sites, including the Altermind merchandise store run by Boketo Media on Shopify, Bandcamp, DistroKid, Spotify, Instagram and Facebook, take you to services that follow their own privacy policies.

Recordings and students under 18

A lesson recording is created only with consent and is used for the student's private educational reference unless separate publication permission is granted. A parent or legal guardian must complete the booking and provide any required consent for a student under 18. This site and its forms are not directed to children under 13, and children under 13 should not submit information directly.

Retention and security

Doug reviews open coaching inquiries and removes inactive inquiry records after 12 months unless an active service relationship or legal need requires longer. Free-map request and download-grant records are automatically deleted within 90 days after the last map request. Anonymous daily counts of requests saved and PDF responses served are retained without email addresses. A minimal suppression record may remain to respect a request not to contact you. Other records are kept only as long as reasonably needed for the purpose collected, an active coaching relationship, support, fraud prevention, accounting, tax or legal requirements. Reasonable administrative and technical safeguards are used, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Your choices and requests

You can decline optional analytics and ask what information Doug has about you. You may request access, correction or deletion when retention is not required for payment, tax, fraud-prevention or legal purposes. You may also ask for an appeal if a privacy request is denied. Doug will verify a request before disclosing or deleting information. Doug does not run a mailing list or send marketing email.

To make a privacy request, email dugvanbev@gmail.com with the subject "Privacy request" and say what you would like Doug to do. To help Doug find your records, include the name and email you used to book or buy. You may also contact the Texas Attorney General about applicable Texas privacy rights.

Changes to this notice

This notice may be updated as providers or practices change. The effective date above identifies the current version. A material change will be described clearly before it applies when notice is required.
